Branding, UX/UI, Communication Design
Box Hill Institute
In my ongoing role as Design Lead at Box Hill Institute, I oversee a small in-house creative team responsible for all digital and printed collateral produced for the organisation. Despite significant restructures and team redundancies during my time in the role, I've led my team to complete approximately 750 completed design jobs per year, ranging from high-impact campaigns to critical internal communications.
Alongside directing the team’s creative output, I deliver work across digital advertising, paid campaigns, printed ephemera, event branding, animated content, and cross-channel design systems. I also serve as the institute’s sole UX/UI designer, leading the transformation of complex institutional processes into streamlined digital experiences.
Mobile-First Digital Application Form
As the UX/UI lead on BHI’s digital onboarding application form, I redesigned the entire student application journey into a modern, intuitive, mobile-first experience. Outcomes include:
Up to a 60% reduction in average completion time
A visually guided, step-by-step flow used by thousands of applicants annually
More accurate, structured data improving internal processing efficiency
Key UX principles applied:
Reduced cognitive load with clear hierarchy and progressive disclosure
Lowered drop-off rates by removing unnecessary friction
Fully responsive layouts across desktop and mobile
WCAG-aligned accessibility throughout
Implementation & Collaboration
Working closely with an external development agency, I ensured design intent translated into seamless functionality — covering micro-interactions, error states, validation patterns, and accessibility behaviours.
Sector Impact
This project made BHI the first TAFE in Australia to launch a fully mobile-first application process. Our design framework later became the foundation for TAFE CRM – Student Requisition, influencing the application experience across the entire Victorian TAFE sector.
Website Refresh & Engagement Uplift
Following the launch of the redesigned homepage, the institute recorded a 12% increase in engagement over the first two months, demonstrating improved clarity, usability, and interaction design. The full website overhaul is currently in staging and will slowly be rolled out over the coming months.
Brand & Campaign Development
I have refreshed and modernised major components of BHI’s brand ecosystem, including:
2024, 2025 and 2026 Course Guides
Multi-segment paid advertising campaigns
Event branding and institutional initiatives
The 100 year celebration identity system
Corporate brand assets and design frameworks
This work strengthens BHI’s visual presence and supports consistency across hundreds of annual deliverables.
